Ok – its now time to come clean – this is my preferred method of quitting. After all the regular stop smoking aids; notably gum, exercise and just plain will prower etc., a friend recommended Richard Mackenzie; a ’self styled pioneer’ apparently in hypnotherapy. Even though I had been pretty skeptical in the past about the effectiveness of such an approach, this time I decided to keep an open mind and give it a go. Hypnosis is an induced state of mind where the body goes into an extremely relaxed state and the mind is made to be highly suggestible. This highly suggestible state appears to be almost trance-like even though it is not. The trance-like state can be achieved by a hypnotherapist or induced by self-hypnosis.
